PrePent Day 23
Showing Up
Welcome to PrePent Day 23!
Ever heard of love language? The way that you like to receive love? Do you love gifts, or folks saying nice things to you, or do you feel great when someone dedicates real time to spend with you.
Amanda Harris, stage and production manager extraordinaire, is doubling down on showing up for people as a serious way of love-living.
“Every relationship I have ever participated in has improved exponentially when I show up. My physical presence in their space bonds us more than any intention ever could. Whether a four-hour drive to see a friend's short film premiere or the shock after a show of seeing someone I didn’t know I was in the audience - showing up
Is key. Even if a friend is struggling and I don’t know what to say or what to do, if I show up, they know I care and that they have someone willing to sit with them in whatever they're going through. Showing up often creates the best memories. Makes me feel held and seen. Makes me know I have people I can call on when I truly need it. And every time, that feeling of togetherness, of showing up and sharing space, bonds us in ways we will never fully comprehend. This new year, I want to show up more. For those I care about, for those I want to know better, and for the communities I am a part of.”
Amanda, we so appreciate how you showed up for Lab/Shul community in your time working with us - thank you for inspiring us with this call to action to show up more in each others lives.
Welcome to the PrePent journey - August 18th - the first day of the month of Elul.
Here’s how you can participate:
Each day, starting today and ending on Yom Kippur, 9/25, we’ll post one photo+short text submitted by YOU - Lab/Shul Partners and global community members. (Double photos on Friday for Shabbat - we won’t post on Saturday.)
Use this printable signEditSignEditSign to write in your answer, snap a picture, write a short paragraph about your choice, and send it in to us using this form. You can also create your own sign and share with us!
We’ll be posting these daily offerings on our social media and website. You can also subscribe to get them in your inbox, for 40 days.
The entire collection will be on display at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center as an ongoing gallery during the High Holy Days, and attendees will be able to create new versions right on the spot. We’ll be talking about your choices on Yom Kippur - exploring, together, what it means to rebuild trust and re-imagine the sacred.
