As we move through Prepent/Elul toward the High Holy Days 5787, we’re entering a 40-day journey of WORD WATCH, paying attention to the words that shape us, separate us, connect us, and call us back.
This year, our High Holy Days theme, HOLY SHIFT, invites us to consider what needs to change, what we’re ready to release, and what we might shift together.
Each week, we’ll turn our attention to a different kind of exile, exploring the words that may live there and the possibilities they hold for repair, return, and renewal.
With our first step into the introspective month of Elul, we turn inward. Our WordWatch begins within - by sitting with the words that define our inner lives—our boundaries and body, belonging and longing —reclaiming a real and tender relationship with who and how we are and how some words define us - as we prepare for honest holy shifts.
